Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 1, 2026
1. Browser-Based Conversion Tool
When you use the Convert2WebP browser converter, all image processing happens locally on your device. Your images are never uploaded to our servers or any third-party service. We do not have access to the images you convert, their file names, their content, or any metadata contained within them. The conversion runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript and the Canvas API. This architecture means your images remain private by design, not by policy.
2. API Service
When you use the Convert2WebP REST API, your images are transmitted to our servers for processing. Images submitted to the API are held in memory only for the duration of the conversion process and are immediately discarded after the converted file is returned to you. We do not store, cache, log, or retain any images submitted through the API. Server logs may record request metadata such as timestamps, request sizes, response codes, and IP addresses for operational monitoring, but never image content.
3. Analytics and Usage Data
We collect anonymous usage statistics to understand how people use Convert2WebP and to improve the service. This includes page views, feature usage patterns, conversion counts (not content), browser type, operating system, screen resolution, and approximate geographic location derived from IP address. We use privacy-focused analytics tools that do not track individual users across websites. We do not create user profiles, sell usage data, or share analytics with advertisers.
4. Cookies
Convert2WebP uses only essential cookies required for the site to function correctly. These include cookies for storing your theme preference (light or dark mode), language preference, and conversion settings. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking cookies, or third-party cookies that follow you across the web. You can delete these cookies at any time through your browser settings without affecting your ability to use the conversion tool.
5. Third-Party Services
Convert2WebP may use third-party services for hosting, content delivery (CDN), and anonymous analytics. These services may process limited technical data (such as IP addresses) as part of delivering content to your browser. We do not integrate with advertising networks, social media tracking pixels, data brokers, or any service whose primary business is collecting or monetizing user data. We do not share, sell, or rent your personal information to any third party.
6. Data Retention
For the browser-based tool: no data is retained because no data is collected. Your images and conversion settings exist only in your browser's local memory and are cleared when you close the tab. For the API: images are discarded immediately after conversion. Server access logs containing request metadata are retained for up to 30 days for operational and security purposes, then permanently deleted. Analytics data is retained in aggregated, anonymized form and cannot be linked to individual users.
7. GDPR Compliance (European Economic Area)
If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). These include the right to access, correct, delete, restrict processing, and port your personal data, as well as the right to object to processing. Because Convert2WebP collects minimal data and does not create user accounts or profiles, most of these rights are satisfied by default. The legal basis for processing the limited data we do collect (analytics, server logs) is our legitimate interest in maintaining and improving the service. To exercise any GDPR rights or file a complaint, contact us using the information in Section 12.
8. CCPA Compliance (California Residents)
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) grants you the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion of your personal information, and opt out of the sale of your personal information. Convert2WebP does not sell personal information. We do not collect sufficient personal information to identify individual users. We collect only the anonymous analytics and technical data described in this policy. To exercise any CCPA rights, contact us using the information in Section 12.
9. Children's Privacy
Convert2WebP is a general-purpose image conversion tool and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Because the browser tool requires no account and collects no personal data, it can be used safely by anyone. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13 through the API or analytics, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
10. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect the limited data we handle. All data transmitted to and from our servers is encrypted using TLS 1.2 or higher. API processing servers are isolated and do not persist image data to disk. Access to server infrastructure is restricted and monitored. Despite these measures, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of Convert2WebP after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
12. Contact
If you have questions about this privacy policy, want to exercise your data protection rights, or have concerns about how Convert2WebP handles data, contact us at convert2webp@deployvision.com. We aim to respond to all inquiries within 30 days.
